PDF - Embroidery Pattern - Vintage - I Slept and Dreamed Life Was Beauty
This is a direct scan of a well executed vintage stamped pillow sham from the 1897 Sears Roebuck catalog.. These were part of a set based on a poem by Ellen Sturgis Hooper. This is one of the best executed versions of the pattern I have found so far. Featuring a recumbent dreamer and fairy with flowers, this Victorian design would make a great accent in your home on it's own, or as a pair with the companion pattern available in my shop! Make into pillows, wallhangings, or as a framed piece. Sweet in a little girls' room!
The pattern is 23 inches wide by 14 inches high when fully put together.
You will receive a PDF of the pattern on 5 pages. Adobe Reader is required to view and print he pattern. Use your own favorite transfer method to transfer the pattern to your fabric. The PDF will be emailed to you for download! (Isn't that COOL?) Please message me if you have any questions.
The original poem the pattern is based on:
I Slept, and Dreamed that Life was Beauty
By Ellen Sturgis Hooper
I slept, and dreamed that life was Beauty;
I woke, and found that life was Duty.
Was thy dream then a shadowy lie?
Toil on, sad heart, courageously,
And thou shalt find thy dream to be
A noonday light and truth to thee.
